ASK4 is delighted to announce a new partnership with Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity, in support of their University Mental Health Charter Programme.
University life can be challenging, and many students are not prepared mentally or emotionally for this new way of life. This can result in them feeling anxious and struggling to cope. In recent years, the number of students seeking professional support has significantly increased and even prior to the pandemic, the prevalence and complexity of mental health difficulties in students was on the rise.
The Student Minds Charter Programme brings together universities committed to making mental health and wellbeing a university-wide priority, to share best practice and to create cultural change. Universities on the Programme form part of a UK-wide practice sharing network, with access to events and opportunities to come together to improve their approach to student and staff mental health. ASK4 has partnered with Student Minds to sponsor these Programme events throughout 2022.
Commenting on the partnership, ASK4’s Marketing and Events Manager, Natalie Williamson said:
“We’re pleased to be supporting another Student Minds project. Mental health is an incredibly important topic, the more support that is available can help make a student’s time at university more manageable and enjoyable. We wish the team every success and look forward to hearing about the magnificent work they have achieved.”
Kate Mitchell, Fundraising Officer at Student Minds, added:
“We’re delighted for the ongoing support from ASK4, this funding has helped us continue to provide a framework for universities to benefit from a well-rounded programme. We’re thrilled to see our growing community of universities are committed to improving staff and student mental health and wellbeing, by joining the Student Minds Charter Programme.”
Having access to a reliable Internet connection is vital for students as it allows them to maintain their day-to-day academic activities, stay connected with friends and family (including their online community), and engage in their interests and hobbies. Last year, ASK4 explored the impact of gaming on students in our latest report Gaming for Good. The report identifies many benefits that gaming offers in terms of entertainment, improved mental health, wellbeing and personal development. ASK4 also ran a FIFA tournament for students in several client sites with the aim of delivering some of these benefits and creating a gaming community within the ASK4 customer-base.
Both ASK4 and Student Minds hope this latest initiative will help many universities and their students and we look forward to supporting these events during the course of the year.
